  POLYESTER ROPE

Polyester Ropes are manufactured from Polyester fibre, the second strongest of the conventional man-made fibres available to the rope maker.

Polyester Ropes have good strength and extension characteristics. They are easy to handle and knot, and are used in a wide range of general and industrial applications.

Polyester Ropes are available in the full range of 3-strand hawser laid and 8-strand plaited (square) rope construction.

APPLICATIONS:
Mast stays
Slings
Bolt Ropes
Flag halyards

Strength: Polyester Ropes have high strength which remains constant, whether the rope is wet or dry.

Elongation:
Approximately 35% extension causes rupture, irrespective of the rope being wet or dry.

Energy Absorption:
Polyester Ropes have high energy absorption capacity, and can absorb repeated shock loads of a high order. Polyester Ropes high strength, good elongation and recovery characteristics are second only to Nylon Ropes.

Abrasion Resistance: Polyester Ropes have exceptional resistance to abrasion.

Specific Gravity:
Polyester Ropes have a specific gravity of 1.38

Resistance to Chemicals:
Polyester Ropes are resistant to organic and mineral acids, oxidising agents and diluted alkalis.

Sensitivity:
Polyester Ropes are sensitive to hot and/or concentrated alkalis such as caustic soda and ammonia. They are also sensitive to concentrated sulphuric acid.

Reaction to Flame:
Polyester Ropes will not support combustion. They melt at 260oC and leave a hard ball. The fumes have a strong aromatic smell.

Reaction to Water:
Polyester Ropes are not affected by, and do not absorb, water.

Storage:
Polyester Ropes should be stored in a cool, well ventilated dry store, never in closed containers. Polyester Ropes should be stacked on wooden gradings or racks, or special coil pegs on stands. They should not be exposed to the weather or direct sunlight.

When storing Polyester Ropes, ensure that they are stored away from: racks of heavy objects whose inadvertent fall may result in damage to the rope; from chemicals and other agents; containers of liquid which may leak; and sources of sparks.

Polyester Ropes should not be stored under conditions of high heat or excessively drying atmospheres.

Polyester Ropes should never be dried in front of a fire or stored near a stove or other sources of heat.
