Strength: Sash cords are strong and their strength is not effected by water.

Elongation:
The elongation of sash cords has been designed to withstand shock loads of hanging windows.

Abrasion resistance:
Sash cords have good abrasion resistance and resist external wear well.

Resistance:
Cotton sash cords are resistant to weak acids to, organic solvents and alkalis. Polypropylene sash cords are resistant to acids and alkalis and many common solvent and oxidising agents. Polypropylene sash cords are UV stabilised to combat the harmful effects of the harsh Australian climatic conditions.

Sensitivity:
Cotton sash cords decompose in contact with strong concentrated acids eg. Sulphuric acid. If painted, Cotton sash cords will become stiff and hard. Paint should not be cleaned off with mineral turpentine as this will have considerable effect on the cord and it may decompose or dissolve.

Reaction to Flame:
Cotton and Polypropylene Sash Cords ignite when in contact with flame and support combustion.

Storage:
Sash cords should be stored in a cool, well ventilated dry store and never in closed containers. When storing ropes, ensure they are stored away from heavy objects, which may fall and damage the rope, chemicals or other liquids, which may leak and sources of sparks.

Sash cords should not be stored under condition of high heat or excessively drying atmospheres. Sash cords should never be dried in front of a fire or store near a stove or other source of heat.
