  SILVER ROPE

Silver Rope is the ideal general purpose rope for both marine and industrial applications.  Manufactured by Kinnears using a special Polyethylene extrusion process which gives the ropes superior strength and a distinctive hairy appearance.  Silver Ropes are strong and versatile, with excellent handling properties due to their surface characteristics.

They are ideal for general and industrial applications, particularly in the marine industries where high resistance to abrasion is required.

APPLICATIONS:
Truck ropes
Head lines
Slings
Industrial rigging
Tarpaulin ties
Foot ropes
Tent guys
Mooring lines
Truck nets

Strength: Silver Ropes are strong and their strength does not vary, whether the ropes are wet or dry.

Elongation:
Approximately 35% extension causes rupture when the rope is wet or dry.

Energy Absorption:
Silver Ropes have twice the energy absorption capacity of Manila and Sisal Ropes. This results in higher breaking force and greater elongation.

Abrasion Resistance:
Silver Ropes have excellent abrasion resistance. They wear exceptionally well and have a smooth silky feel.

Specific Gravity:
Silver Ropes have a specific gravity of 0.95. They float on water.

Resistance to Chemicals:
Silver Ropes are resistant to most acids and alkalis, grease, oils, organic solvents, water and fungal attacks.

Sensitivity:
Silver Ropes are sensitive to hot xylene, hot nitric and sulphuric acids. They are affected after extensive exposure to sunlight or high temperature environments.

Reaction to Flame:
Silver Ropes shrink, curl and melt when in contact with flame or very hot surfaces. They soften at 110§C and burn rapidly.

Reaction to Water:
Silver Ropes do not absorb and are not affected by water

Storage:
Silver Ropes should be stored in a cool, well ventilated dry store, never in closed containers. Silver Ropes should be stacked on wooden gradings or racks, or special coil pegs on stands. They should not be exposed to the weather or direct sunlight.

When storing Silver Ropes, ensure that they are stored away from: racks of heavy objects whose inadvertent fall may result in damage to the rope; from chemicals and other agents; containers containing liquids which may leak; and sources of sparks. Silver Ropes should not be stored under conditions of high heat or excessively drying atmospheres. Silver Ropes should never be dried in front of a fire or stored near a stove or other sources of heat.
